I going to buy a used corsair veng ram single stick from a computer shop who sell used branded system.

The max I think he going to do is show me the ram in the Bios and not by memtest.
Anyway, that I can check or watch in bios confirming that the ram is good before picking from him.
I don't think he will give me even a day warranty. Checking warranty only.

So what should I look?

there not much a bios ram boot does..the ram has to be real bad for a cmos to give a ram beep code. all you can do is use a credit card and not cash. if the dimm fails memtest on your pc whe nyou test it you can do a charge back.
if the shop has a memory tester plugged into there test bed if it passes there when he tests it then the ram should be good.

when i worked at micro center we had one of these tester was great it was a pass/fail system and we could print out the failing chip and adresses when we returned ram to vendors.
I personally would not trust a shop that won't let me bring back a faulty part within less than a week.

A) look at the chips and see if any of the print has faded. This will indicate excessive heat, especially if it only happens on one or two chips.
B) look at the settings in the bios at the speed the ram is running at. You may have to google the specs on the ram to see what it should be.
C) There are memory diagnostics you can run on your system.

No, you can't see if it's good or not in the bios, not even memtest can prove that it's good. Only way is to plug it in your pc and see if it runs there. So unless there is an option of getting it and returning it after a day of testing, I personally would not go for it. There is no way to know if it will be compatible with your current ram.
