Question RAM compatibility for a Ryzen 5900x.

Hi all,

I am looking to upgrade from my 2700x/Crosshair VII (WIFI) Mobo to something more up to date.

Currently looking to buy the Ryzen 9 5900x, or the Ryzen 7 5800x.

I've looked on my end at RAM and wanted to see what opinions would be best?
- I would like to have 32GB.

Looking to get the ASUS ROG Strix X570-E, or MSI B550 MOBO at this time while researching still.

Any opinions on what RAM would be best for the 5900x/5800x?

2x16GB kit.

Ryzens use infinity fabric, that's basically the communication web between the i/o chip and the cores. IF is made up of 3 clocks, Fclock, Uclock and Mclock and they operate at the Data rate of the ram. It's best to keep a 1:1 ratio for stability and performance. To date, Ryzens have an issue with Fclock of 2000 or higher, being very unstable, so it's best to stay just under that. 3800 ram is Data rate of 1900. 3600 ram is Data rate of 1800.

Timings also matter, tighter the timings, better the Ryzen performs. So 3800/14 is going to be higher performance than 3600/16 in multiple ways. You may or may not see any fps differences if side by side comparison, but the pc will in a variety of ways.

What would be ideal for the 7900x?

Looking to get that over the 5900x.
