Im thinking of buying an extra ram stick, but the ram that i have (Adata XPG Z1) isnt available anywhere. I found that G.skill aegis has the same voltage and a similar timing. Will the ram work properly in dual channel or will i run into problems? Thanks.

Solution
Ryzen 1500x
Check MSI RAM QVL for the motherboard and CPU combo compatible memory.
You will see some of these kits:
G.SKILL Trident Z Neo 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 3600 (F4-3600C18D-16GTZN)
G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 3600 (PF4-3600C16D-16GVK)
G.SKILL TridentZ Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 3600 (F4-3600C16D-16GTZSW)
CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 3200 (CMK16GX4M2B3200C16)
G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 3200 (F4-3200C16D-16GVKB)

What's the motherboard model?
How much RAM do you have?
Even if you were able to get the same model, is not recommended to mix different RAM modules.
Modules with identical specifications from a kit should be used when running in multi-channel mode.
It is hard to predict the outcome when you mix and match modules that were not tested to work together. A motherboard might even stop working all together.
The RAM that goes into a kit (package) has been tested to work together. There are times that different modules, even if they look similar, they could have different IC chips brands.
Manufacturers don’t guarantee mixing or adding one module to another, even when they are the "exact same" model.

i thought any ddr4 memory would work? And also do u think a 2x8 kit is worth it over a 1x16? I only have 2 slots in the motherboard[/QUOTE]

You could get any DDR4 RAM, but there is a better chance everything will work if you take your CPU specs (up to 2600MHz DDR4) and motherboard tested RAM in consideration.
A RAM that has not been tested to work with your motherboard could required manual tuning in the BIOS.

Dual channel RAM (2 modules) performs a lot better than RAM running in single channel mode.
Do you think you will need more than 16GB any time soon?

do u think this would be a good purchace? i wanna leave some room for an upgrade later on.
there is also this one for 20e more which you said is tested with my motherboard: https://www.komplett.ie/corsair-vengeance-lpx-16gb-pc4-24000-dimm/20712350/product/9414
is it worth the extra money?

If you buy a single RAM module now, there is not guarantee you could get another module later on that could work with it.
You will end up in the same dilema that you are at the moment with the Adata XPG Z1,

yeah but i feel like hyper x is gonna be a lot easier to find and the likelihood of the same model of ram working would be quite high

Even if it were, unless it's from the same batch, there's still a chance of incompatibility. I'd still recommend the 2x8GB kit.

i decided to get the hyperx fury 1x16, i have one more question, is there any point trying out the 8gb xpg ram i have with the 16gb and run both in single channel, or should i just sell it now?
