So I got 2x4GB Corsair1600Hz DDR3 and I want to put another 2x4Gb to have 16Gb, is there gonna be a compatibility issue? I've got some older 2x2Gb ddr2 1600 but when I try to power the pc with all of them it bips and auto shout downs, now idk if I go and get another set of 4Gb but different brand will it do the same? Thank you

Question is if it would work with the ones I have in now. And the motherboard is ASRock z77 Extreme4
Your motherboard supports a max of 32GB RAM. However, all the sticks you have or the ones you want to buy have different latency timings. Mixing RAM with different latency is usually not going to work well. Your best bet is to find a 2x8 GB kit and use that to get 16GB.

Typically you want to buy your RAM in kits so everything is matched. Mixing and matching brands, even when CAS and speed are the same, can lead to stability issues. Another thing to remember is that you motherboard has a maximum amount that it can support. For example my Z87 can take 32GB total, therefore it is possible that if you have an older DDR3 platform it might only support 16GB. What brand and model is your motherboard?

You can keep trying more new sticks to add to the old sticks and you may eventually find a pair that work and are fully compatible.

Or partially compatible.

Or you may not.

Only way to be sure is to use ONLY new sticks sold as a single kit of your preferred capaciy.

How did you manage to get a ddr2 stick in a ddr3 slot?

So this is what I currently have in it:

This is what I want to buy to complete it:

And with this one I've tried and didn't worked:

I'll check motherboard as soon as I'm home, but I'm pretty sure it supports up to 16Gb RAM
One thing I notice right away is all of those DIMMs have different CAS Latency. What you have is 9-9-9-24, what you want to buy is 10-10-10-?, and what didn't work is 11-11-11-?. Right there says things are not going to play well together. If you are going to try and mix and match you always need to have the RAM being the same timings. If they aren't then things get dicey very quickly and probably won't work.
