Hi everyone. I guess I am not up to speed anymore on ram for pc's....see ht happens when you spend all your time making on a console? Let that be a lesson to everyone. :pt1cable: Anyway, I have an older Dell Studio XPS with 8 gig of ram. The build specs indicate this:
Duel In-line Mem Mod 1 G 1066, 128x64, 8, 24, 1RX8.

On the computer itself, I have 6 sticks of ram, 4 one gigs and 2 two gigs. The ram stickers say:
1GB 1Rx8 PC3-8500-7-10-A0 1066

I know I have a bad stick of ram somewhere. I'm thinking about just replacing all of it with 2 4 gig sticks of ram. Dell wants $200 plus shipping. I'm pretty sure I can something cheaper than that, but all the options make my head hurt a little. Any guidance as to what I should be looking for?

Thanks for any help.

Pieter

Well, huh. So, what's is the suggestion? Should I just go with the same speed ram as it seems like it won't go any higher anyway? I guess I don't fully understand the matched pairs etc. if I bought two of the same 4 gig sticks and stick them in the first two slots from the left, it should work, yes?

Agreed. More so the OP doesn't expect to get more performance and opening his options. Seeing that I cannot find 1066 RAM cheaper than 1333 iknowhowtofix suggestion is best.
