Hi all!

I'm looking at which RAM to go for and it's between these two. My question is - why are the comparable parts (6000MHz, CL30/32, 2x32GB) so different in terms of the final timing and what does this actually mean/impact?

Corsair - 40-40-40-77 (CL30 - they don't offer this in CL32)
https://www.corsair.com/uk/en/p/ddr...p-memory-kit-cmt64gx5m2b6000c30#tab-techspecs

G.Skill - 32-38-38-96 (CL32)

G.Skill do offer a CL30 model like Corsair, but it doesn't seem to be available in the UK so that's why I'm having to go for the CL32 with them. The timings are still very different from the Corsair ones though, at 30-40-40-96.

1. It seems odd that the Corsair starts with 40 even though it is CL30, no? Possibly just a typo on their website and the actual timings are 30-40-40-77?
2. And why is the final timing (77 for the Corsair, 96 for the G.Skill) so different?
3. Finally, will that difference (77 vs 96) have any noticeable impact when gaming, specifically?

Thanks for any help!!

PC specs - MSI z690 Carbon Wifi, core i9-12900k, MSI 3080ti Suprim X.

PS. To save anyone asking why I want 64GB, it's mostly due to playing Star Citizen and also some future proofing. I need to upgrade so may as well get 64GB now.

Just a quick update - it appears the timings on Corsair's own website are wrong, and they should be 30-36-36-76! Someone obviously copy & pasted from the CL40 set, without checking. Naughty...

With that in mind, the difference between the two is now 30-36-36-76 (Corsair) and 32-38-38-96 (G.Skill).

Still not understanding the big difference with the final timing?
