RAM detected in CPU-Z, not in BIOS

I currently have 6GB of ram in my asus zenbook ux303ln. There is 4Gb soldered to the motherboard and there is also a stick with 2 gb, so a total of 6. I bought a 8gb stick to replace the 2gb one.
The problem is that my BIOS and Windows dont detect the 8gb stick. When its in, it only shows a total of 4gb ram.
But when I run CPU-Z i think it does show my stick.
I am pretty sure my 8gb stick is compatible; here it is:

Because your ZENBOOK only can support up to 8GB, when you added the single 8GB in, then total is more than 8GB. That why the BIOS/windows does not recognize the 8GB one, but the cpu z will recognize the 8GB.

So reture the 8GB, and buy the 4GB ram, or just use the 2GB RAM.

It actually says there that there is 4gb soldered to the motherboard and a max of 8gb SODIMM, which i think means the extra stick right? So it should be ok. I have read on many places the max is 12, so i am pretty sure

Yes, you are right, total 12GB. Sorry, I did confuse that.
How about unplug the battery, it should look like http://www.notebookcheck.net/fileadmin/Notebooks/Asus/Zenbook_UX303LN-R4141H/UX303_59.jpg because you already open the case., wait for 5-10min, reconnect it and boot the notebook.

I will try, i also just noticed that the voltage is different, my old stick has 1.35 and the new one 1.5 , is this a problem?

It maybe not, because if it causes problem, your notebook will not boot. I think you need reset the CMOS by removing the battery, your notebook can boot, and it only doesn't not recognize the new RAM.

Ok, so I put in the 8gb stick, unplugged the battery , waited for 10 minutes, plugged in again and booted. Sadly , it still shows 4gb of ram.
Did i do something wrong? Is there a way to see if the cmos resetted? Or is this just not working?

If you still don't work it out after reset the CMOS, and the RAM is not compatible, but if your notebook can be changed the voltage in the BIOS, you can try. But I think it will be locked for most of notebook.

Recommend to use the memory finder for the laptop/notebook memory.

So i removed the cmos battery and the normal one, reconnected, booted up and still only shows 4gb. The cmos did reset, as my clocks time changed back to default.
The voltage can not be changed.
So what do you suggest? Is there something wrong with the ramstick? Should i buy another one suggested in the sites you linked?

For adding laptop memory, you are better use those sites to find the RAM, for desktop memory upgrade, that will be other story because you can change the timing and voltage.

I think the voltage is the problem, this stick is rated for 1.5 and the other ram is 1.35

Yes, you should find the RAM the manufacturer say the RAM will compatible the notebook, because that RAM doesn't be recognized for some reason.

Look if the MB is compatible with 1,35 and 1,5 volt for the RAM, some mobo's are not. Put probably the extra ram will downgreat the speed because you can't run in dualchannel anymore because the 2 ram sticks plus the on-board RAM will be considered as 3 ram sticks instead of 2 or 4.
