RAM Dual channel question ?

If i buy another 8gb of my current ram , same model same everything will they both work as dual channel or not? Or is there something specific i need to do in the bios?

It is a G.Skill Ripjaws-X 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz PC3-12800 CL9-9-9 to be specific.

If you put it in the right slot they should work

assuming both stick will work together it should just start in dual channel, you'll see it in the post screen as you start your machine up

There's no guarantees, mixing DRAM can be and often is problematic, even if you buy another stick/set of the same exact model of DRAM. Forums are full of people having trouble doing exactly this. Best is to buy a package of the full amount of DRAM you want, that way you have sticks tested to play nice
