RAM for APU AMD A10-6800K

i current have:
8 Gb DDR3 RAM 1333

thinking to upgrade it to 4GB DDR3 2133

will it improve the APU's performance?

It only really matters if your running it without a dedicated video card. The reason the APU experience scales with fast RAM is because it uses some of your System RAM rather than dedicated GPU VRAM on a video card. System RAM is relatively slow so it's a bottleneck talking to the GPU in the APU.

Well it's like Minerva said little RAM that is faster is worst.
What motherboard do you have? so we know max RAM speed.

Considering you would lose 4GB of ram. It will help and hurt at the same time. The best memory for AMD APU's is fast 1866-2133 set of DDR3. But you need enough memory so as not to limit your system performance wise by having to resort to accessing the HDD/SSD for virtual memory alot. The other thing to take into consideration with memory is that most of the performance boost that an APU gets from memory effects gaming performance more than anything else, but if you are dropping 4GB I'd be worried that any boost in performance you would receive would be hurt more by the loss of usable memory.

my MoBo is MSI A55m-e33
so the better solution would be to just buy a discreet GPU like a 7750 or a 7770
would an r7 250 be better?

The R7 250X (mind the X) and the HD7770 are pretty much the same (as long as the specs shaders/gpu clock match) so I'd pick from those based on price, brand, and cooling solution used.

Edit: Oh and your 700W psu will handle the 7770/R7 250x just fine you could even handle an R9 290x but that would likely be a bit overboard and pricey mind you. Although a 260X/270X/7850/7870 would also be a good solution if you can afford it

i'll get the 7770 instead of getting a better speed RAM since i won't need the RAM speed if i upgrade to bette GPU.
