Ram for E8400 overclock to 4 GHz

Hi!

Could you guys help me find some RAM's (2x1gig) that can overclock my Wofldale (E8400) to 4 GHz? As cheap as possible! I havn't really settled on a Motherboard yet (either a GA-x38-DS4 or a Asus P5K pro i think).

easiest way to do this is to get some RAM that will handle 1:1 overclock at 4ghz without overclocking that ram as well.

e8400 is 9 multiplier and 1333mhz fsb (or 333mhz)

Minimum FSB for 4ghz would be ~1778mhz (or 444mhz)

for ram that will run syncronously would be about half the FSB (double clock frequency) ~888mhz. So youd be best with a DDR2 900mhz or 1066mhz part.

Lower latency is better and there are alot of good 2x1gb parts out there. Id be looking at Crucial, Patriot, OCZ or Geil

+1 on the Ballistix. Good price, good ram. It should have no problems overclocking, though the most I think I saw some benchmarks push it was just over 1Ghz. If you really crank out the FSB you can change the memory divider.

The Ballistix PC8500 will run fine at 1000-1040 with 4-4-4-12 timings at 2.2v. I have it memtest stable for over 9hrs at 1020mhz, trying out to see if I can get to be stable at 1064 at 4-4-4-12.

I have an e8400 overclocked to 4ghz. I am using Corsair XMS2 6400 2x1gb. Its on sale at tigerdirect.com. And BTW dont get a Asus or Gigabyte w/ 680i chipset, It WONT run you e8400. Trust me, I learned from experience.

Please advise me if this will work, I have asked the place i'm buying it from to check that the CPU works with the motherboard first and asked if they can update the bios first if it doesnt to save an unwanted return.

DO NOT USE ASUS UPDATE TO FLASH YOUR BIOS. USE EZ FLASH UTILITY AND BIOS FROM A USB STICK. TRUST ME, YOU DO NOT WANT A BRICK. GO TO THE ASUS FORUMS, THEY WILL TELL YOU THE SAME THING.
