Im looking for 1gb (512x2) good ram that will post on first boot for my Gigabyte S3 board. I'd only ask that it is DDR2-800, can OC well, and is under $115.

On Newegg the page says the board requires this:

Notice: Only DDR2-800 memory supporting JEDEC approved 1.8V operation with timings of 5-5-5 or 6-6-6 is supported on Intel Desktop Boards based on Intel 965 Express Chipsets.

Edit: I read a Review of this ram: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16820227126
and someone said they got it to Post without having to manually change to 2.1v. Another review said that it would not Post. Can anyone tell me if it will work or not?

that OCZ ram will only boot if the S3 MB has the F4 BIOS or later afaik
and I think it comes with F2 by default?

you wont need 800mhz ram anyway for the e4300

just get 667 ram(Corsair perhaps) and OC it to 800mhz(which it will easily handle) and you got yourself 3.6ghz

all though the CPU may not reach that

You won't need DDR2-800 that can overclock higher. Just get some relatively inexpensive Corsair XMS DDR2-667 CAS4 and call it a day. I've never had a problem overclocking this memory to DDR2-800 CAS5 with a motherboard that supports memory voltage adjustment. You'll probably need to boost voltage to 2.0-2.1v to get to DDR2-800.

The E4300 at 667MHz (333MHz bus) will run at 3GHz.. at 800MHz (400MHz bus), it'll be at 3.6GHz.. depending on your cooling solution, you may not even make it to that speed in the first place.
