Hi There,

Looking for the most cost effective RAM for my work computer. Doing FX work on HD, 4k and 6k video. Other specs:
i7-5960x
Asus X99 E WS.

I read that getting DDR4 2400 would be better than 3200 or more, as the higher number is more geared towards overclocking/extreme gaming. Is this correct? Also, I've had GSkill in the past with no complaints, is Corsair better?

Looking for 4x8GB (32GB total).

Thanks!

Honestly their have number benchmarks about this and having a faster RAM is good so long as that is its speed, and not overclocking the RAM itself, you will be fine. The faster the ram the more data it can push though but honestly the RAM is so fast these days that you can't tell the difference.

I'm a big GSkill fan but it also depends on how stable you want it. Don't get the Value RAM for something like that. Spend the extra money to get better quality ram

Are you OCing the CPU? Yes faster DRAM would definitely be advantageous to you with video work, as will the 32GB (over a smaller amount), I'd look to 4x8GB (to fully utilize your quad channel capabilities. The best data rate will inpart depend on if OCing the CPU, your 5960X should be able to run 2400 and maybe 2666 with the CPU at stock, going faster may require an OC of the CPU
