Hello, i'm going to buy the ryzen 3 3200g and amd says that the System Memory Specification is 2933MHz. I want to buy the corsair 2x8gb vengeance lpx. I'm just not sure if I should buy the 3000MHz variant (because the system memory specification from the 3200g is 2933MHz and 3000 is close) or the 3200MHz (because ryzen loves memory). I don't even know if I buy the 3200MHz variant the ryzen 3 3200g could use more than 2933MHz and it was a waste of money. So my question is if the ryzen 3 3200g would make use of 3200 MHz or if it even works with xmp profile enabled. Should I buy the 3000 MHz or the 3200 MHz variant?
Thank you

Solution
the 3200g is only officially supported by amd to 2933 but will likely work with higher frequencies. I think most will work at 3200Mhz but the motherboard comes into play as well. You should go to motherboard manufacturers website and make sure your bios is up to date and check what speed memory modules they've tested and approved. Those lists are only modules they've tested and other's may work as well, so the specific memory module you've been looking at may or may not be on the list but if you see other 3200Mhz modules listed you know there's a fair chance that the one you're looking at might work or you could try to find modules on their approved list.
I know, my question is should I buy 3200MHz or 3000MHz and if the 3200Mhz will be compatible with the r3 3200g with the xmp profile enabled.
If the price difference is only a few $, get the 3200, because you can just underclock it to 3000 or 2933 if it's unstable at 3200. Otherwise, 3200 should work fine with a Ryzen 3 3200G.

Post the modules you are thinking of buying if you have some choices picked out.

I've just purchased a 3200g as a stop gap measure while waiting for my new cpu. I plan on either getting some Crucial Ballistix or 8Pack Team Group DDR4 3600MhzCL16 ram, to go with my Asus B450-F gaming motherboard. Would i be right in thinking that the ram will run perfectly ok with the board, at either 2933 or 3200mhz?
