Hello all, hoping I could get some RAM advice for a new build using a Phenom II 955BE and an ASUS M4A79XTD EVO MOBO.

Question: It it worth saving $25 to get the slower latency but higher frequency 1600 9-9-9-24 DIMM's or spend the $25 for the 1333 7-7-7-21's?

A. 4GB GSkill RipJaws DDR3 1600 @ 9-9-9-24
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231276
= Save $25 after combo deals

B. 4GB GSkill RipJaws DDR3 1333 @ 7-7-7-21
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231277
= Extra $25 after combo deals

P.S. Can I just clock the DDR3 1600's @ 9-9-9-24 to 1333 @ 7-7-7-20 on my own?

Solution
Several tests on Tom's and elsewhere show that the performance gain from 1333 to 1600 is very marginal and often non-existent. I would go with the shorter latency.

The 1600 will run at 1333 but most likely not with the tighter latencies.
