Every time I read threads or forums I never get the answer I am looking for so here goes... I am looking to upgrade my RAM from 2GB to 4GB ( my current configuration is Slot1 - 1GB and Slot 2- 1GB). My current RAM is running at 5-5-5-15-20 and I am wondering if I can buy RAM that is rated at 4-4-4-12 without doing anything to my BIOS? Also is it worth doing, or should I just stick with 5-5-5-15 RAM? My laptop does not allow me to change anything (It is an Acer Aspire 5100-5840 w/ AMF Turion 64x2, TL-52 1.6 Ghz).

I have attached my current Memory and SPD tabs from CPU-Z for your reference below.

Here is also a link to the memory I was planning on buying...

You will not notice the difference in slightly faster timings on your laptop. Since your laptop doesn't let you manually set the timings you would just have to hope that your motherboard properly recognized the RAM.

As for the upgrade. Make sure you're running a 64bit os or else only 3 gb will be recognized.
