I have an MSI b450m gaming plus and I was planning on getting better ram. At the moment I have Corsair vengeance LPX 32gb 2666mhz ram and I was planning on getting something around 3400mhz. I say 3400mhz because from my research I found that my motherboard can only go up to 3400mhz. Sadly, the only store that’s available to me only carries 3200 or 3600 MHz. Does anyone know if I were to get the 3600mhz ram that XMP will just put it to the maximum available? Or should I stay safe and go for the 3200?

thanks in advance.

If memory is 4x8gb, 3200MHz is safer option.

I ended up in a similar situation when I purchased 3600 ram that was too much for my system. There was only xmp for the 3600. I had to use the programs taiphoon burner and dram calculator to find the proper bios settings to clock the ram manually to 3400. On the plus side the ram was 3600 cl16 and it runs just fine at 3400 cl14, which outperforms it xmp settings.
