Ram is not compatible with motherboard

Hello, I am new to building a PC and I used PCpartpicker to help me with my build. I have
Msi Pro carbon intel z270

I finished my build and it works great except when I enter the BIOS it says that my ran is at 2100Mhz, I know it can do better if i click on XMP. I am wondering if that will give me issues since the ram is for z170 chip and my mother board has z270 chip? and also my mother boards ram configurations are
3800(OC)/ 3600(OC)/ 3200(OC)/ 3000(OC)/ 2800(OC)/ 2600(OC)/ 2400/ 2133 MHz

what does OC mean? do i have to overclock the processor here? or is there a way to overclock the ram sticks?

DDR4's default speeds are at 2133MHz and goes beyond that when you overclock it or if you apply the X.M.P profile. Theoretically any ram so long as it drops in the corresponding ram slots, is compatible across each platform. Meaning the ram although advertised for Z170 platforms will work on a Z270 platform regardless.

OC means Overclock. You will only overclock the ram modules, nothing more. The Integrated Memory Controller will also see some stress but since you will already have an aftermarket cooler, there's nothing worry about.

Thank you! one last question I have i7-7700k processor and on Intel website they say that this chip supports 2133Mhz/2400Mhz. does that mean i need to overclock my CPU to get it to work with my ram frequencies?
