Trying to upgrade from 32GB of RAM to 64.

Have 4GB Hynix PC4 2333 sticks = 32gb. They're all ECC registered DIMM.

Bought more of the same and getting the amber flash on startup 2,7 (which is memory module failure).

I've pulled out and swapped every stick I purchased and they all work for 32gb.. But as soon as I use other slots/channels on dual CPU, I get the failure.

It's driving me crazy.. Instructions say you need to populate DIMM slots 1-4 first.. But my computer won't run if I do that (which are the white dimm slots).. I have to put them on separate channels (white and black) and just at 32...

At this point I don't know if I just have incompatible RAM, and have been getting by this whole time on luck (using off channels), or there's something wrong with my computer...

Anybody have any ideas? I've also posted in the DELL forum, but so far no luck.

Thanks.

Yes, I looked at the wrong section, sorry. But you wrote 2333mhz, the system specifies 2133mhz, is that a typo ?
Also Hynix is El Cheapo Ram, not always reliable.
What I would do is put all the ram in, reset CMOS. Unless you have one of those nifty MB "configure RAM" buttons.
