Corsair VENGEANCE LPX 32GB DDR4 4000MHz overclocking not working-PC sits idle after xmp profile selected and saved

Hi There, I have been racking my brain trying to get my ram to overclock. I have a Asus STRIX X299-E GAMING II motherboard, Corsair VENGEANCE LPX 32GB DDR4 4000MHz ram and using a Intel Cascade Lake i9 10920X. I have updated the Bios, verified ram compatibility via Asus and verified memory configuration. When I go into the bios, I select the XMP profile (shows the current ram at 4000mhz), save and exit..and my system just hangs? I have not made any changes in the bios, other than selecting the XMP profile. I don't know what to do at this point? Any suggestions would be very welcome. Thank you in advance.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

What BIOS version are you on at the time of writing? Have you manually put in the ram's frequency, timings and voltage in BIOS? Could you please parse the rest of your specs with the following;
CPU cooler:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:

Hi there, I'm using Bios version 11.12.82.1838. I'm an amateur. I was under the impression that in order to overclock past 2133, I need to go into the bios, find the xmp profile (using auto feature) save and restart. From what it sounds like, I have to manually make some changes in order to get anything above 2133? My CPU max is aprox 2900 and I was looking to get to the CPU max. Any suggestions on how I can move forward? Thank you!

A follow up questions, if I were to ditch this ram and buy 3200 mhz (16x2) ddr4 and overclocked via xmp profile with auto settings, would the result be a speed of 2933 (max my cpu will do) or do I have to manually make changes to get this result?

According to ASUS Memory QVL list, the memory is rated to work with this motherboard but you have to manually set the O.C. ASUS only has XMP certification for DDR 3600 and lower.

You will have to go into the memory latency to 15-15-15-36 and voltage to 1.2 for starting and then play with the setting to achieve the tested speed of 4000

Thank you both. If I were to consolidate both of your answers to get this thing working like such: Set XMP, change voltage to 1.4, change speed to 3600, and memory latency to 15-15-15-36 ...would that work?

Got it, move slowly. I'm happy to stay at 3600. I was concerned with the steps required to increase ram speed in the Bios. I am assuming that the steps I outlined in my last message is the correct way to approach getting the ram up to 3600. If what I last outlined was incorrect, please feel free to let me know. Thanks again!
