I recently got my hands on an old PC and wanted to upgrade it to play some light games. I wanted to know what is the max RAM my motherboard can support. It currently has a single stick of 2GB DDR3 RAM installed.

I tried searching the internet for the motherboard details, but could not find the info I wanted. Here is the motherboard details :-

Manufacturer :- ZOTAC
Model :- MCP61P
Chipset :- NVIDIA MCP61 rev. A3
Southbridge :- NVIDIA MCP61 rev. A2
LPCIO : Winbond W83627DHG

Solution
it could be a Foxconn M61PMP-K AM3 NVIDIA MCP61P
specs
CPU Socket Type AM3
CPU Type Phenom II
Number of Memory Slots 2×240pin
Memory Standard DDR3 1333/1066/800
Maximum Memory Supported 4GB
Channel Supported Dual Channel

it could be one of the NVidia motherboards listed as nforce on this web page http://www.nvidia.com/page/mobo.html

EPOX also made boards with the same chipset
hard to find much information on it

Solution
If you look at details from Wikipedia, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_Nvidia_nForce_chipsets, the chipset's RAM Support depends on the CPU that is used.

Using the same knowledge from Wikipedia, the MCP61 is an nForce 400 (or 405) and uses the GeForce 6100. Doing a search of Zotac with that information produces the Zotac GeForce 6100-ITX (Model: GF6100-E-E) https://www.zotac.com/sa/product/mainboards/zotac-geforce-6100-itx and while Zotac's website doesn't show Memory Capacity, it can be found on NewEgg's site (https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813500045) supporting up to 4 GB of DDR2 800 Memory.
