I know that all motherboards have a limit on how much ram they can hold, but do they have a limit on how much ram each slot can hold? I'm planning on putting two 4GB sticks in my motherboard, but I have a small suspicion that it only takes 2gb sticks... can anybody help?

my motherboard is an EVGA x58 SLI. I also found this part number: 32-BL-E758-A1

Solution

From the user manual: https://www.evga.com/support/manuals/files/132-BL-E758.pdf
"System Memory support
Supports triple channel JEDEC DDR3-1333. Officially supports up to 12GBs of DDR3 memory. "

Further:
Installing System Memory (DIMMs)
"Your new motherboard has six 240-pin slots for DDR3 memory. These slots support 256 MB, 512 MB, 1GB, 2GB, 4GB DDR3 technologies."

Yes, I know it supports a total of 12 Gbs of ddr3 memory, but I want to know how big of a stick I can put in it. Is there any limit on how much each slot can take?

Btw, mine is the 32-BL version.. Is there a difference?

I am perfectly capable of reading that manual, but I wanted to know if any of you guys knew first. Thank you for your help though. 😉 I will definitely read it if I need to.
