Hi all,
I've a 16gb corsair dominator platinum 1866 cl9 of ram
problem is they run at 1333 according to task manager in ram performance section, CPU-z and cmd *link to refer [ https://imgur.com/a/59GJD ] *
i'm running a 64bit version of windows 10 with latest updates and my cpu is core i7 4770 pared with g1 sniper z87 mobo
what could possibly be the problem?

Hey Mark,
Thanks for your interest, sorry if I sound like a noob but 3 years I'm away from hardware so totally forgot everything so bear my dumb questions
1- shouldn't xmp profile work by default?
2-the mobo supports ram freq till 3000mhz so why the hustle to enable any ram speeds as long as they are below that
3-You say I may only get 1600mhz so that means I've to OC my ram to get the extra freq? how about novice users like who dont OC?shame on you gigabyte :D

Mark RM

Admirable
1) no, the XMP profile is a user intervention type of thing
2) Don't really get what you mean there.
3) It depends also on the memory controller , which in this case is embedded in the CPU you are using. This function is called the "silicon lottery".

Truth is the faster RAM doesn't make a lot of difference at much of anything but benchmarks, but sure, give it a whirl. I would.

Thanks Mark, I went to bios and enabled XMP and instead of System Memory Multiplier being set to (auto) which was 1333mhz i set it manually to 1866 and all is ok now i got my 1866mhz speed :D
