Hi,

I had 4 Gb Hynix/Hyundai module in my ThinkPad T430.

I have installed another 8 GB module of Kingston. The BIOS showing 12 GB total but the Kingston 8 GB is showing serial number as 00000000.

Is this any unmatched modules issue? In my Windows 10 system information its showing 12 GB RAM.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Regards,

Riz

Solution
As long as all the memory is recognized by the system and is all working, then there isn't any real concern here.

The reason why there is no serial number shown when querying the Kingston memory via the system is that the serial number information has not been programmed or saved into the SPD chip on the Kingston module. Sometimes memory module manufacturers don't program all details into SPD chips for whatever reason(s).

Actually I have 2 x 4 GB Kingston modules at the moment which do not have details (within the SPD chip) of the memory chips used. Usually all memory technical details are stored in the SPD chip, but not always.
