Is 8GB enough RAM for 4k? (I can upgrade to 16GB later down the line if I have the channels)

Also, someone said that upgrading to 16GB can be problematic. I assumed that as long as my Mboard is dual-channel (which it is), then I can fit another kit of 8GB to total to 16GB. Is this easy to do?
