What is the difference between the RAM labelled "1Rx8 PC3L-12800S-11-13-B4" (inside the laptop) and "2Rx8 PC3-12800S-11-11-F3" (trying to upgrade with)? The new one is not being detected by the laptop.RAM photos
Thanks in advance!

Solution
The difference is the volatge.
Tha PC3L - the L stands for low volatage.. which runs at 1.35v i think..

Whereas the PC3 - non L ram - needs a higher volatge to run, that is, the standard 1.5v.

so, i'm guessing the slot isn'T giving the 2nd stick enough to run with.
Thanks Supahos

I have tried swapping the slots and only with the new one, not working in any combination. Also, I have two of the new ones none of those are being detected.

Memory is guaranteed in the form sold. Other combinations have no guarantee to be compatible together.

You seem to think adding extra memory is an upgrade. Such combinations that have never been tested together before have no guarantee to be compatible together. This also includes exact match, same thing, identical.
