Just fired up my new CPU but my DDR3 corsair vengeance RAM is running at 1333 not 1600 when I look into the BIOS> I think I have to disable something but I am not sure what exactly that is. I know they are seeded into the proper slots.

Solution

It should be and it should look something like this: http://media.bestofmicro.com/2/W/291704/original/asrock_z68-extreme4_bios4.png

The screenshot is for ASRock's UEFI BIOS, i haven't actually seen the GEN3 motherboards BIOS but I presume its similar if not the same?

You may have to manually set the ram settings (timings and such) but this should be easy to work out once you find the right section of the BIOS.

I am running-

mobo: etreme3 gen3
cpu: i5 2500k turbo
ram: DDR3 Corsair vengeance 8gb

I'll need to check the BIOS, will X.M.P be on mine? I was looking around in the BIOS before I posted but couldn't find anything that I felt confident in messing with.

That screenshot is very similar if not exactly the same. I'll have to check this out soon as I get home, at work now. Thanks a lot.. haha, Adrian you are like my own personal guru. Helping me in pretty much 100% of my threads. Thanks! I'm just actually surprised how easily I got the new rig built and seemed to have no problems other than this minor one.
