ram not showing

after i upgraded my ram to 8gb from 4gb it only shows the existing 4gb in my x550ld laptop. What is the best solution for it?

try to re install the ram, but before inserting the ram, use some kind of brush to clean some dust that might be there then insert the ram, usually i got trouble like that when installing ram only because a tiny problem

I tried it and still not showing and I'm not exactly sure whether the ram i inserted will suppourt my lap(ASUS X550LD) since I'm not sure of my BUS speed and rest of the other stuffs as my existing ram is inbuilt. Can there be any problem in my slot?
