Hello Everyone
I decided to buy an extra stick of ram which is kingston 1x4GB DDR3 1333Mhz, when i put the ram along with my old ones which are 2x2gb dual channel running at 1066 mhz, PC started beeping and didn!t let me in bios or anything... So i removed the old ones and tried the new RAM alone , but it didn't work as well....
I have Intel Core 2 Quad Q9500 and old motherboard from hp, model number 3647h, but when i checked i found out that it should run just fine ... Does anyone know what to do with it ?

Solution

Yes the ram will run at the lowest speed unless you set it otherwise which you can't if you keep your old ram. Just try and make sure you match the timings. OR an even better idea is to just but 8gb of new ram to replace all of your old ram.

Your running 3 sticks of memory? That could be the issue in itself, it is always a hit or miss when doing this, but the issue may be the new stick is trying to run faster than the old ones. The beeps your getting are a POST, Power On Self Test, code, try it again and listen for the code, it will consist of long and short beeps, record it and google the post code. This will tell you what is causing it not to post.

If the system won't boot with that RAM alone, its incompatible. Just because your board may support DDR3 1333mhz, does not mean it supports ALL DDR3. Its likely the timings of the ram are incompatible with your system.

If you can return the ram I would highly suggest it. Buy a compatible dual channel kit, the easiest way for you is to put your system model into Crucial.com and they can give you the exact specs you need.

Hello, thanks for help, sadly i don't have the opportunity to return the RAM, those 2 rams i have are running at CAS LAtency of 7 clocks, the new ram is running at CL9, maybe that could be the problem ? But i heard that you can somehow change the timing of the RAMs, is it possible when the system is not even turning on with the ram in it ?

That is absolutely the problem. That new ram is completely incompatible. Remove it.

I looked at the Crucial.com, but there is shown only RAM that has frequency of 1600mhz for my Motherboard, will the ram downclock itself somehow if i buy it ?
