RAM on Macbook Air

Hi

I'm considering buying a 2013 Macbook Air. I have read that you can not upgrade the RAM from 4GB to 8GB due to it being soldered in. However, what I can't seem to find the answer to is whether you can add another RAM chip.

If I bought a 4GB RAM MBA would I be able to add another 4GB RAM or can there only be one RAM chip?
