Question Ram overclock failure

So I'll start this out by saying I'm a total noob to overclocking. I'm also not interested in trying to overclock the cpu, as it is a rig I'm building for my fiance. I recently learned that getting my true potential out of my ram requires changing the frequency in bios, and I'm attempting to do that for hers, and more than likely mine in the future.
Specs
Asrock b450m steel legend mb
AMD Ryzen 5 2600
G Skill Ripjaws ddr4-3600 16gb 19 latency
Currently showing at 2133 frequency, and any attempt that I make to move the frequency, including tinkering with the timing, as well as attempting default xmp, has ended up in failing and boot loop. Any help would be much appreciated!

I should also note that my bios is not updated to the latest update, and I'm worried to do so because asrock themselves do not recommend it with my processor chipset, however, it says the same thing about the update I'm currently on (2.70)

With a Ryzen 5 2600 you don't need to update to the latest BIOS because it just updates the AGESA to Version 1.0.0.4 Patch B which is optimized for Ryzen 3000 series CPUs.

You just need to go into the BIOS by repeatedly tapping the DEL key after rebooting your PC.
Then go to the OC Tweaker page of the BIOS and enable the XMP Profile for your RAM.
See page 57 of your manual:

If the XMP profile doesn't work at 3600 MHz, try leaving the XMP proflile enabled BUT set the Frequency to 2933 and see if that boots.
If that works then change the DRAM Frequency to 3200 and see if that boots.
From what I see, your MB supports up to 3533 RAM with a Ryzen 2000 (Pinnacle Ridge CPU):
- AMD Ryzen series CPUs (Pinnacle Ridge) support DDR4 3533+(OC) / 3200(OC) / 2933(OC) / 2667 / 2400 / 2133 ECC & non-ECC, un-buffered memory*

So 3200 or 3333 or 3400 or possibly 3533 will most like be the best you can do.

Attempted all those things and they failed. Even tried just moving up to 2400 and inching my way up but even 2400 failed :/

I would ask on the Asrock support forums and see if anyone else with your exact motherboard knows of a work around, like possibly downgrading the BIOS to a version that works better with 2000 series CPUs.
On my Asus B450-F with a Ryzen 5 2600 , the best BIOS for RAM compatibility was version 1201, I updated to a newer version and I could no longer get my RAM to run at 3400 and had to lower it to 3200.
