RAM prices spiking like I've never seen!! $30 in literally 4 days.

Would someone please explain to me what the frick is going on with the hardware market right now. Same thing happened to some video cards. $100 spike for the radeon 280x in less than a month.

What is a real bummer about this is that I was putting together some newegg wish lists for a friend who is in the market for a new system and now I have to tell him that what was previously X-amount has just gone up by about 20%.

Everyone is looking to the future but can not release the ddr4 yet as there is no platform that supports it.

Well with the 280X's the bitcoin miners figured out it was the best bitcoin mining GPU that existed so they all bought it, price went up.


For memory it got cheap as everyone was gearing up for Christmas, for online stores the Christmas rush is close to over so prices returned to what they were about 4 months ago. Also with companies like Samsung already making ddr4 chips I'm sure the supply of the chips is less than it was 6 months ago, so the price increases.
