Ram problem. Windows is lagging

I had that common issue i think it is that it says 3.25 gb usable from 4 gb installed, i even have 8,so i thought it was a dual stick ram, i went to /msconfig, boot, advansed options and i changed it from single stick to dual stick, popped up that thingy for 256 bit, restarted my pc and then it started lagging extremly hard, almost impossible to go into start menu. My pc is windows 7 ultimate 64 bit, nvidia geforce gt 520,amd fx 4100 quad core. If i can some help it will be awesome.

Are you sure your Windows installation is 64bit?
To check, right click on Computer > Properties > Scroll down to see whether it's 32bit or 64bit.

It makes much more sense that your Windows installation is 32bit as it can only address around 3gb of RAM.

Please report back as even if you're sure that your Windows 7 installation is 64bit, double checking in this matter is important.

Im sure that it is 64 bit i cant see becayse its lagging as hell but about 5 months ago i had the same problem and i gave it to my technick and he made it 64 bit and can you help me fix it i know how to get back and make it single stick but its lagging strong and i cant get in there thanks
