Ram problem

I have 98 im my system. i have 256 mb ram in my system. but it shows 31 mb ram. what is reason?

If you added ram recently, maybe the board isn't recognizing it. But try cpu-z, a free download. It will give your board, memory, and cpu specs. We need more info to answer your question.
