Hey buds,

ill start off with my config

amd x2 phenom 550
ati radeon 4650 gpu
MoBo - ga ma74gmt-s2 gigabyte
Ram - 2gb ddr3 800mhz (atleast to what it shows on "cpuz") (Dram Frequency 668 mhz)
i will need to open it up and check it out once

the problem is that when i took this config the place i got the ram from, gave me a 2gb some odd company ram, and i took it, and i am guessing it is a 800mhz or 1033 mhz ram

now i want to update this to 2x2gb or i have budget to buy the 4gb too

also i will upgrade my os to win 7 64 bit as soon as i get the 4gb or 2 gb extra ram

but the question is that will the 4gb work along with the 2gb ???
or do i HAVE to sell the old one, because selling it just makes no sense ...

Solution
Preferably, 2 Identical sticks of RAM, capacities, timings and voltages. That's the basic criteria , we can mix and match RAMs no doubt about that, but , we prefer not to because sometimes they cause other major issues with certain programs and other stuff.
The more the RAM the merrier, believe me, enough is enough for a little while, when you start to unleash the potential of a rig, even the Max supported falls short.
Either way, it depends on you, 4GB is like a Minimum requirement, but since you mobo houses only 2 Sticks at the max, it's preferable to start of with 4 and work yourself up to 8. You can go in for the 6GB combination now if you feel like it, if it works, good for you, until you can upgrade to another 4GB stick .

Look, u can have Mushkin Enhanced Silverline 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820226095

$37.99 + FREE SHIPPING

----------

For only $100 u can have Win7 x64bit : )

So, its better to get 8GB of the RAM since it is at the all the time low.... IMHO

Than u will not need the old RAM at all, and it will be as it supposed to be.

Is this your mobo? - based on that mobo.

yes this is my mobo and it does support the ddr3
Memory
2 x 1.5V DDR3 DIMM sockets supporting up to 8 GB of system memory (Note 1)
Dual channel memory architecture
Support for DDR3 1333/1066/800 MHz memory modules
Support for non-ECC memory modules

yea, but i dont stay in usa
i stay in india
and i dont think new egg ships all the way here
though this price is very cheap, but still i donno if they ship to india

No, newegg does not ship to India. I already tried them a few times. But I shop from Primeabgb & Techshop, here in India, depending on the availability and price variations. I've tried Lynx here but their packing is way to shoddy for my liking and the response is not very good when you complain about the packing.
What is your budget? In INR?

As you will see the difference in pricing..... and depending on where you're located in India.

i stay in mumbai
budget is 2000 +/- 2-300
also the kingston and the mushkin are looking good
but will they go along with my already existing 2gb ram ??

gimme a few mins
ill just open the system up and let you know

okay these are the images of my ram

sorry forgot to mention

Ram
Dynet 2GB DDR3
DMT 125 U6BFR8C-H9N0
and on the other side its written
evmt2g1333u8 (this i have no clue what it means)

i guess speed is 1333
but shows just 668 on my cpuzid

You can go for any 1333MHz RAM remember you have just 2 Slots, so you have to make it 2 X 4Gb RAMs.
Check the site out and find the cheapest 4GB stick available and get 2 of them.
You've been using Dynet, so any of the brands mentioned on these sites is bound to work and work better.

hey man, thanks
but do u really think i need 8gb ??
i mean i was working with 2 gb and it worked great till now
so can i just exchange this for the 4gb or just got the 4 gb one in 1.5k something and im done with 6 gb of ram (if that works that way)

hahaha
see the diffrence in prices man
its like way way too bad man
even though all of it is made in china, still we have to pay higher prices for them here

Actually the price difference is there no doubt about it, but, here in India, having a 8GB module is something like not heard off. Especially since we don't have brands like the rest of the world, brands of RAM here in India are not even heard of anywhere else.
Especially since the cost of it is like....OMG. I could make a rig in the same cost as much as the 32GB Bundle and the buyer would go mad and still feel like the cats whiskers.

i know man its actually sh*t-headed

im really thinking of doing something to order that 8gb newegg deal of muskin from us
but again i have another friend who has a friend at lamington - so im waiting for his answer

and yea ill ppbly go for the 6gb gig now and then upgrade it to 8 gb as the ram is still in warranty till may 2013 - so it would be the wise thing to do right ?
