RAM question!

Hi everyone.I'm 17 and this is my first thread so please excuse me if i sound a bit dumb.

So here are my pc's specs :

Intel Quad Q8400 @ 2.66 ghz
9800GT 1GB
8GB DDR2
(Not sure what motherboard I have and I can't check because I'm not at home)

So there is no real problem with my PC but I would like to buy better RAM.

I have 4 2GB DIMM's. The FBS speed is .800 Mhz

My CPU's front side bus speed is 1.333 Mhz

So what I want to do is buy 2 4GB DIMM's but with 1.333 FBS speed. Will this greatly increase my overall performance or is it just a waste of money? What will happen if I buy RAM with FBS speed more than 1.333? I'm not sure what causes bottlenecks so will that happen? If someone can please help that will be great ! thanks ! 😀

Oh and i have Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit! 😀

As it is DDR2 ram you have, 1066MHz is the fastest you can get. The 1333GHz is only available as DDR3 and that is most likely not supported by your bobo, because it need different slots. And the 1066MHz is not worth the money in your case, because you will not notice any difference.

I see. Thank you very much! Can You perhaps suggest a motherboard that will work well with what i have, but that can support DDR3? OR is a new motherboard not a good idea?

the fsb of your cpu is 1333, but don't forget, this is actually quad pumped (QDR). Normally your ram runs at half that, so for a FSB of 1333 your ram is normally clocked at 667mhz. You most likely have DDR2 PC2-5300 dims. If you have something like DDR2- PC2640 (800mhz) dims, then you can get more performance by overclocking. The long and the short of it is, don't waste your money. Minor performance boost.
