RAM question

I recently bought 2 gigs of Crucial DDR2 1066 memory, as an upgrade from my old RAM. I was planning to buy DDR2 800 to achieve the 1:1 ratio with my overclock, but the DDR2 1066 was on rebate and was MUCH cheaper. Anyhow, my question is, should I stick with 5-5-5-15 timings and use the odd ratio the 1066 gives me, or should I downclock to 800, have the 1:1 ratio, and lower the timings as far as they will go? Which option will give me better performance?

thanks!

well i have experimented, but for some reason my ram will not allow me to reach 1066. it fails at around 985, which i have no explanation for. i have the voltage set at exactly stock for these sticks (2.2) and it refuses to boot above that.

Some 975 chipset boards have problems with memory frequencies above about 470.... found this out to my annoyance a few weeks ago and sold my ABit AW9D and got and ASUS P5B deluxe... wasn't aware it was an issue on your particular board, but not surprised 🙁

Have you tried with stock cpu speed, and set the memory manually to 1066 and manually setting the timings that the spd chip sais? in case the bios misinterprets it or runs at 1t when the timings are made for 2t ?
