Hey guys looking to get more ram but not exactly sure what the best ram for set up is http://m.imgur.com/gallery/htmIhoU

Also not sure what the fastest it'll support also if u notice the sticker on current ram it says 2400 but it's not running anywhere close to that. Only got 8 gb ram looking to get new 16 gigs and if I can overclock I'll do that also

Solution

That 1066 speed is the single channel speed, you double that to get the full DDR speed of the RAM. You can just get the same RAM model that you have, will be best for compatibility. 16 gb of RAM won't get you really faster speeds in most cases though, usually the money is better spend on a faster CPU, video card or even a hard drive if you don't have an SSD. I'd pick...

I looked at it and it says 2133 but that stick in their already says 2400 but when I checked internally what its running at and it says like 1066

Why this upgrade?

I can only assume it's so that you can fully utilize the RAM the way it was meant to be used. You only have one stick in a dual channel board. That cuts its bandwidth and speed in half. The configuration is more important than the amount. After the configuration is correct deciding on the amount can take center stage.

As you can see below I have 8GB as well but I have 2 sticks allowing the RAM to work correctly.

My TV died not too long ago. Going to be a minute or 3 till I can replace that.
