ok here are the specs of my proposed computer:

Mobo - EVGA 122-CK-NF68-AR Socket T (LGA 775) NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard

CPU - Intel C2D 6400 (775)

And yes I will be overclocking this to past 6600 specs. thx and all input is appreciated.

ya i think going for 2GBs is the way to go especially for gaming. good choice, i heard that the dominators are pretty good, so take a look at those.

DDR2-667 should be enough, still at that price point you might end up with 800 which would give you some more headroom.

Curcial Ballistix 667CL3(280) is a pretty good choice, the G.Skill with black heatspreader (300$) is top notch. I would get that over dominator

Hey!! they were just making fun of this mobo over on [H]ardOCP, didn't like it at all.
Not a good choice (or at least, not mature yet).
Re: memory, labbbby's right.
PC2-6400 runs at 400MHz (800DDR) and 400 is a pretty healthy overclock, heheh...
So you're pretty well covered with DDR2-800. 'Recreational' overclockers like me might run 300FSB, why not, or maybe even 333FSB and they will be happy with the DDR2-667.
Of course, big-$$ memory will usually provide much tighter timings, even at these (slower-than-rated) speeds.
That's why I bought my DDR2-800...
Right now it's running CAS3,4,4,10 @ 600DDR @ only 2.0V, and my CPU gives an easy 2.4GHz (E6600 speed).
I could easily increase my FSB to 333 and my memory would still only hit PC2-5300 speed... hey maybe I should do that?
Nah! I'm running all default voltages (and SpeedStep too).
Heat is the enemy
No need, anyway - my rig is already bloody fast! 3DMark '05: 11455

Im not to good with this ...
...but I have myself looked at GSkills pc 6400 44412 ram.
Pretty cheap and good stats
Should be able to clock pretty good with some extra voltage.

Other than that it pretty much u get what u pay for.

And "400 is a pretty healthy overclock"
Ehh u dont get a n680i MB to clock 400fsb
U get it when u want 500+

[H] has been chewing away every 680i board! You never piss off the capital H, with crappy BIOS revisions...

Really? I tought you were talking about this ones:

Hey, I love your sig pic Labbby.
I have Little Ritchie - he's a poor little one-eyed ah heck, about 3 1/2 months old. Perfectly good cat, I said. What about the eye they said? That's his problem I said. He's growin' like a weed...
I'm in Toronto, next time I'm in la belle province we should spin one up.
