Hello all,

I need to replace the ram in my computer. I currently have G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB 2133 MHz. It seems they do not sell this speed anymore, and if they do it is very overpriced. Will a faster speed still be compatible with my desktop? The same model of ram is available at multiple speeds for the same price (2666, 3000, 3200, 3600, etc.). My motherboard supports up to 3600MHz and my CPU supports up to 2133MHz.

CPU: i7 6700k
Motherboard: MSI Gaming M7 Z170A

Thank you.

These should work fine:

PCPartPicker Part List

Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory ($69.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $69.99
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

But if you want higher quality, lower latency sticks, then these are what I'd really recommend. These will be CL14 Samsung B-die equipped modules.

3200mhz is probably optimal for that configuration. You may have trouble easily getting faster sticks to run in there without a fair amount of manual configuration.

How much memory are you wanting to run?

Are you trying to replace or add to the currently installed memory?

What is the actual REASON you are replacing the current memory, if it does still work, or is it just to have faster RAM.

Yes, faster memory, 3000-3600mhz, will definitely improve performance over that 2133mhz kit. It will "feel" much "snappier".

Hello,

I am replacing the current memory sticks I have. I want to put in 16gb (2x8gb). I just wanted to know which ram speed is the best option for me, considering the CPU supports up to 2133MHz.

Thank you.
