Further research into my build plan and price drops has left me with an issue i need to resolve, gskil viper x 1600mhz ram, has supposedly been designed for sandybridge, has a cas of 8, is this going to cause an issue with or run poorly with haswell? thinking i5 4670k and gigabyte g1sniper. Ive heard repeatedly 'ram is ram' how true is this?

Solution
Yes, there's a few sets of 2133/9, might look at new egg, they carry the available models, then can price shop based on the model you like, the greater bandwidth of 2133 will serve you well ;)

GSkill doesn't have a Viper model - probably thinking of Patriot - should be fine if it's a 1.5 volt model, don't want 1600 with 1.6-1.65 and for info purposes - most mobos accept a wide range of DRAM - but the CPU has to be able to carry it at the assigned freq - i.e. many 1150 mobos can take up through 2800-3000 DRAM, but more often than not you'll need a 4770K to run them at spec freq - contrary to what Rohit G Nair states above
