hello i want to upgrade my pc with extra 8ram but there is an issue. i had 4gb ram and wanted to buy another 4ram, my friend gave me same 4gb ram to test on games for fps and other things before i decide to buy new.my board has 2 slots and my 4gb ram was in 1st slot for a long time from the time i bought pc. so the thing is when i put 2nd ram in 2nd slot my pc kept restarting and wont boot up, then i tremoved 2nd ram from 2nd slot and tried to put my old ram in the second slot to see if it will work but pc wont boot up again, so i bought 1 8gb ram and put in 1st slot. i've never used that slot before this exident can it be demaged or is there any system failure which i can fix it and add another ?

Solution
if you built the pc yourself there might be a bent pin under the cpu that causing ram issue. another issue on most mb is the other slots when ram is placed into the slots it can cause the mb to flex and short to the mb tray. if yours look like it shorting try placing a rubber bumber under the mb to keep it from flexing.
What happens if you put your original ram back in the original slot?

Also, if the ram is not compatible with one another - problem.

Always static discharge yourself before handling memory. Don't use force when pressing ram into slot.

when i put original ram to original slot it works fine. the ram my friend gave was exactly same mhz and brand. also i'm very carefull with anything i do with my pc. when i sold my original 4ram and bought 8gb ram corsair and put in original slot it worked fine but in the 2nd slot it didnt work either when i puted it there i got no signal on monitor no pc reboot or boot-up
