[SOLVED] RAM Slot 1 not working after CPU Upgrade

Hi everyone got a issue I can’t get my head around here.
My motherboard is a MSI H81m-e33 (old but does the job)
It’s had a i5-4460 in for 4 years now so I thought today would be a good day for an upgrade picked up an i7-4790k updated my bios and attempted to boot however the screen would just say no signal no beeps or anything from the system played around with it for hours and finally got it to boot however I use 2x8gb Corsair vengeance ram but it will only boot with 1 stick in slot 2, both sticks work individually with slot 2 however when you try out both in or just 1 stick into slot 1 it will not boot up. Just tried both sticks with the i5 back in there and it runs fine, I don’t currently have another board to test with. Can anyone offer any advise that can help me with this?

Did you purchase the i7-4790k new?
Make sure the CPU and heatsink are properly installed and check for bent pins in the CPU socket.

I’ve checked the socket and there are no pins that look bent or out of place, also I did buy it second hand from CEX.

You found the issue, faulty CPU.

It's possible that you placed the CPU in the socket slightly off. Usually when a memory slot isn't working it's because of a bent pin or incorrect installation of the CPU.

When you dealing with a used CPU is it best to clean the pads with q-tip & 99% alcohol.
