Question RAM slot broken?

Currently 3 of my 4 ram slots are in use (I split a set of two with a friend). My friend is upgrading, and so I bought back the other stick of RAM from him. I just tried installing it, and no matter what I tried the RAM wouldn't click in to this one slot. I tried the same RAM in other slots, and other RAM sticks in the faulty slot, and it seems that the issue was just the slot. Both clips were undone, and the ram was the right way up, but even with more force than required it wouldn't click in. Is there anything at all I can do about this, or just keep the RAM until I decide to upgrade my motherboard?

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

Use an eraser to wipe the gold contacts on the memory stick, dust off any eraser debris, and then use a fine bristle brush to dust the ram slot that wasn't populated on your motherboard. Then drop the stick of ram that was missing from your ram kit onto the board. If you're not inserting the stick of ram in properly, the latches will not engage. Inspect the latches on either side of the ram slot to see if they might've ended up damaged. Images of the slots can help us two fold as well.

Speaking of rams and boards, what are the specs to your build? Please list them like so:

If you're able to get into BIOS, please check and see what you current BIOS version is for your motherboard.

Look close at the slot make sure there is not a load of crud in it.
