Hi, I have a strange one.

My one RAM slot just stopped working after trying to install another 8gb of ram. The ram sticks are the exact same make and model. I had my first 8gb in Slot 1 and put the second into slot 2, It didn't boot, now both of the sticks work in slot 2 but slot 1 is still dead.

Your sticks are not matched.
Ram is sold in kits for a reason.
A motherboard must manage all the ram using the same specs of voltage, cas and speed.
Ram from the same vendor and part number can be made up of differing manufacturing components over time.
Some motherboards can be very sensitive to this.
That is why ram vendors will NOT support ram that is not bought in one kit.

In your motherboard manual, is there a specific slot to use if you have only one stick?

The motherboard will try to find some sort of setting to get your ram to work.
Possibly if you reset the cmos, you will get back to where the first slot worked with one stick.

Use memtest86+ to test each stick individually to verify that you have good ram.
Test each slot with a known single good stick if your motherboard permits.

One thing to try to get both working is to increase the ram voltage in the bios if you can.

If all else fails, return the 8gb stick you bought and sell your old ram.
Then buy a 2 x8gb kit that is supported.

Both sticks of ram work perfectly. Maybe I didn't explain properly. I had an 8gb stick in RAM Slot 1 on my motherboard. I then received my second 8gb stick and put it into RAM Slot 2. The PC didn't post so I took the RAM out of RAM Slot 2 thinking they either weren't working together or I had a bad stick. The PC didn't post again with the ORIGINAL RAM in the ORIGINAL slot (RAM Slot 1). I then took the original working RAM and put it into RAM Slot 2 and the PC booted perfectly. I then put the new 8gb stick into RAM Slot 2 and the PC booted perfectly. None of the sticks work in RAM Slot 1 which was working before. It has stopped working after I put the second stick in. Both sticks are the same brand and make, DDR4 CL14, 2133mhz.

I've mixed and matched sticks of RAM that shouldn't have even managed to go together in the past which worked fine even though they both needed different voltages, so I am aware about that stuff.
