my friend has 1 channel ram for 8gb and he would like to know if he buys a different brand with a higher speed will work
(Adata DDR4 3000 1x8GB) (Corsair Vengeance LPX 1x8 3200mhz) He is only going to use 1 cause the other one is going to be going somewhere else.

What's the motherboard? I'm sure it would be able to work but if I know what the motherboard is, then I can confirm it. Though, why is he opting for only 1 stick? Having dual-channel RAM can provide better performance.
