Ram Speed difference

I have asus H81 m-c motherboard.It maximum support memory speed is 1600Mhz.I bought hyperx fury ddr3 1866mhz 4gb kingston ram.There is difference between ram and motherboard.I like to know,It is OK.

In reality, the motherboards no longer dictate the maximum RAM speed, because the memory controller is not in the motherboard, is in the CPU (for quite some time).

They only wrote 1600MHz because that's what Intel's CPUs official maximum memory speed support.

Now if your motherboard supports XMP and your RAM sticks also support it, you can set the 1866 MHz speed in the BIOS just by selecting a memory profile.
 
Yes it will be OK. The 1866 MHz memory will downclock to 1600 MHz. In some cases it will run at 1866.

When a motherboard manufacturer specifies RAM speed what they are really saying is that the motherboard was tested and ran fine with that RAM.
