I've got an i7-7700k on the way and have been shopping for ram. I was going to go with DDR4 3200,but then saw in the i7 specs that DDR4 2400 is the max supported.

On the other hand,my Motherboard says in the specs.....
DDR4 4133(O.C.)/ 4000(O.C.)/ 3866(O.C.)/ 3733(O.C.)/ 3600(O.C.)/ 3466(O.C.)/ 3400(O.C.)/ 3333(O.C.)/ 3300(O.C.)/ 3200(O.C.)/ 3000(O.C.)/ 2800(O.C.)/ 2666(O.C.)/ 2400(O.C.)/ 2133(O.C.)
Would getting the 3200 been a waste of money? Should I just grab some 2400?
Pc will be used strictly for gaming. Specs below in case it helps.

Sorry to dig this up, didn't want to post a new thread with a similar question. I'm going to be picking up the 7700k along with the Maximus IX hero and I'm also a little confused about the memory. I was looking at G.Skill TridentZ F4-3600C16D-16GTZ which is 3600. Am I able to OC memory that is 2400 up to 3600 to get the same performance at a fraction of the price?

OP, what did you end up doing?

So am I just better off purchasing 3600 then? Not sure really what to do and having a hard time finding an answer. This update to my existing build will likely last another 3 years or so, so I don't want to skimp out.
