Hello All ,

While Building a Rig I brought he 1800Mhz Ram instead of 1600Mhz.
Only after coming home i got to know that my mother board supports upto 1600Mhz RAM only

Mother Board : Gigabyte GA H97 D3H

Please let me know if it is fine with using it or I have replace it.

On searching on google I came to know that it will automatically run at speed supported by Motherboard.

Please confirm as soon as possible since I can go and replace if needed . Cost wise it didnt cost me more.. only 500Rs INR. So is it fine with using it and would it cause any further issue.

Thanks in advance.

Solution
Try setting the sticks manually to 1600 and with ea timing 1 lower than spec (i.e. if the spec timings are 9-10-9-28 set to 8-9-8-27), if problems, let us know the DRAM model #

It should work fine, since it will indeed lock at 1600MHz

Hi Sandstorm ,

Thanks for the reply,

But when i Check in CPU -- Z it says the Dram frequency as 666.5Mhz

So I am confused , Can you please clarify.

Also Ram i have is corsair vengeance 4*2 Kit

Thanks,
Nag

Hi Tradesman1 ,

Thanks for reply , I am bit new to it , So you are saying I need to change settings in BIOS ? I am bit afraid to tinker with it as I dont want to burn up the Motherboard because of some mistake.

Any other way to do it ?

Thanks in advance.

If you do want it to work at 1600mhz do you need to go into the bios,no way around it.One more simple way to try is enabling XMP and see if that will take it to it's highest possible speed and lowest timings that will work with it.

Thanks everyone.. for right now I wont mess up with my BIOS as I just brought my Rig yest :)

If any issue persists I will check with you people..

Once again , Thank you :)

Have a good day
