Question RAM speed or capacity?

Good afternoon, I'm using 16gb DDR4-3000 memory, I'm thinking about upgrading but not sure if going directly to 32gb or going DDR4-3600 first. My mobo is a Asus TUF B450M Plus.

With a Ryzen 5 2600 the Maximum RAM speed supported is 3466 and it may not even run at 3466.
And your MB lists 3466 as the Max supported RAM speed:

The performance difference between 3000 and 3200 or 3466 is going to be Very slight and most likely only noticeable in memory benchmarks.
Why do you want/need more RAM ?

Unless you use software that will actually use more than 16GB RAM (VMs, 3D modeling, etc.) there is no reason to add any more.
I have 16 GB of RAM and even when encoding Video I have never seen my RAM usage go above 8 GB.

Thank you for answering, I'll get a 3600 or 3600XT soon. Don't need more ram right now but would like to know what is considered a must in this case.

Even with a 3600 or 3600XT your 16 GB 3000 RAM will be fine.
3600 RAM would give you a slight increase in performance but not enough to worry about IMO.
