Ram speed, Task Manager vs Cpu Z

I have Mushkin Blackline enhanced Model 997092 running on a GD80V2 with an Fx 8350 at 4.5Ghz. I went into the Bios to set the XMP and Ram speed, selected 2133Mhz. When I load into Windows, the Task manager correctly reports 1067 but CPU z says otherwise, sticking to 800. What the hell is going on? The Ram is capable of 2400 but I just want it to run at 2133 (which the board claims to be capable of) but I am not sure how to make it do so (assuming Cpu Z is telling the truth and Task Manager is lying). Any idea guys?

I'd say it's the other way around and that CPU-z is lying where Task Manager is correct.
What does your BIOS say?

Yeah that's odd... how much voltage are you giving the memory? Have you tried any other programs to read the memory speed besides task manager and cpuz?

I haven't but I was considering trying speccy. It is unfortunate that my Bios will not provide that information. I have Click Bios II and Control Center. Neither will give me a live version of the Ram Speed. Will check speccy. I was thinking I may need to flash the Bios but that seems pretty stupid for something like ram speed. A few of the version ahead of my current (most likely) version of the bios all have reports of improved memory compatibility. Voltage has been left to Auto most of the time but through my adjustments of timings as well as voltages in an attempt to fix this manually, it has not made a difference. The speed will not change regardless of what I do. So I think this may be a memory compatibility problem. Flashing may be the only option then. Does that seem sound to you guys?

Updated: Speccy confirms what Cpu z reports. This is really odd. My case is the exact opposite of all others. Task manager is reporting higher than Cpu Z.

Flashing the bios may help but the next thing that comes to mind is the voltage being sent to the memory while on auto. To be best if my knowlege the default voltage should be 1.5v but in order to run the memory at it's higher rated speed you're going to need to use 1.65v and you'll need to set that manually. I would suggest changing the voltage to at least 1.6v and see if that changes what's being reported.

I did attempt that as well, it yielded no effect. I will flash the Bios and get back to you. Hopefully I can clear it up for anyone else with this issue in the future.

Update: Flashing the bios did nothing. The Ram still won't change it's speed. I stumped. I set it to 2133Mhz in the Bios on the latest version and still nothing. I have the Voltage set to 1.65 as well.

Instead of running it at 2133 what happens if you use 2000?

There is no option for 2000. I get the choice of 1866, or 2133. I called MSI and they told me my memory wasn't on their compatibility list because it was rated at 2400Mhz possible speed. Of course the blame the rest of my rig meanwhile XMP has a slight response to the memory through task manager. I am going to try running it at 1866 though.

Problem solved. Also, there isn't much in terms of a multiplier for the memory. Don't use the windows Click Bios utility for Ram settings, period. It is deceptively identical to the BIOS it's self while functioning only a third as well. Stupid me. MSI couldn't indicate that their own click bios is just a broken piece of garbage, instead the blame the rest of the system. The memory is running fine at 2133Mhz now. Thanks for your time guys.

He most likely went into the BIOS proper, instead of trying to do it in Windows.

I absolutely can't rule out the BIOS Flashing but this process was needlessly buggy based on the tools that MSI provided. I did this manually from the BIOS outside of windows, meanwhile to do overclocking on the processor I /have/ to do that in Click Bios inside windows due to the voltage limitations outside of windows. What a messy system.
